Perspective

Hey Gang,

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I need a little perspective on life.

A slap to the face.

I’ve spent the last several days mostly alone in my head.

That’s a scary time. Things can turn dark really quick.

To put it mildly, creative personalities tend to have a lot of ups and downs. We have this hypersensitivity which makes us prone to mood swings. The demons don’t help.

No worries, I plan on keeping my ear(s) and my sanity. I’m learning how to spot this downward spiral and course correct before I spend an entire month sulking.

If you’re ever feeling low—like your life is out of your control, like you don’t know where to start, like you’re failing—remember this.

Stop whatever you’re doing and go have coffee with a friend, take a walk, spend some time with people. It really helps to take a break and gain some perspective.

It Could Always Be Worse…..

I have this line that I use on my coworkers whenever we’re having a bad day.

“It could always be worse……diarrhea.” -Tim

No matter how bad things are going—there’s always a splash of something out there waiting to make it worse.

The sad thing is, for most of us it’s out own doubts, insecurities, & frustrations that cause things to go south.

These thought patterns hold no value and are not helping us reach where we want to be in life.

Pause, take a deep breath, step back and consider what’s really happening—what’s really important. The world is going to keep moving if you don’t reach a goal. Yes, it sucks but pick yourself up and continue on.

Persistance

All of the people who inspire me in life have this in common—they’re persistent.

They have all experienced hard times, failures, diarrhea, road blocks—brick walls.

The difference between them and the rest of the world is that they keep going in spite of the difficulties they faced.

Rocky said it best:

“It ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!”

Be a rebel—keep moving forward in spite of (fear, doubt, obstacles, pain, failure, etc).

Memento Mori.

Keep creating.

Thanks for reading.

-Tim
