“Inspiration exists but it has to find you working.” Picasso
Hey gang,
Just a few quick thoughts I’ve had on finding inspiration.
I believe traveling is one of the best ways to become inspired. For me Novelty is key.
Traveling instantly expands your creative palate. When I’m in a new city, my “Spidey Senses” are going haywire. I’m always energized by the colors, the smells, the textures—the unfamiliar faces.
I can easily enter flow and get lost walking for hours. In fact, that’s really my favorite thing to do while traveling—just wander around and wait for something interesting to enter my viewfinder.
For me, it’s not about photographing the famous landmarks—even though we always visit and snap a few photos.
I’m more interested in the candid, the unexpected—the unpredictable moments that happen while on the road.
Like catching a flock of pigeons in flight, a cat in a window—someone wearing a cool jacket with crazy hair.
These aren’t things that I plan on seeing—but they end up being my favorite photos to bring back home.
It’s the unexpected moments that make the best stories as well.
I encourage you to find inspiration from traveling. Even if you’re only visiting an unfamiliar nearby town.
Surround yourself with novelty & wait for the unexpected to happen.
Thanks for reading.
