Burn Burn Burn

Hey Gang,

Today I spent the whole day—a WHOLE SATURDAY, organizing, backing up, and deleting thousands of photos from my computer.

I’ve been burning DVD’s all day.

I’m still burning DVD’s.

I’ll be burning them tomorrow.

BURN BURN BURN

I’m still sick—but I needed to feel like I was doing something productive. So, I spent the day listening to hip hop, drinking gallons of coffee, and backing up my catalog.

It’s something I’ve been putting off for a while now. I’m sure if you have any experience handling thousands of images—you are aware of the suck factor that’s involved in taking on a task like this.

Honestly, I dread combing through my photos, picking out the best images, and compiling some sort of portfolio.

But its a necessity (more like a necessary evil)—we have to do it.

Part of the reason why I hate doing this is because I have to look at my body of work as a whole. Not just the end product—but alllllll the crappy photos. Almost all of them are crappy.

They suck!

It takes thousands of photos to get one good image.

Ansel Adams said, “Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop.”

So if you’re shooting all the time—expect no less than one good photo a month.

Inspiring.

Next time you see me out with my camera around my neck—looking like a walking cliche—remember, I’m just shooting away to get that one good photo.

Alright, I just needed to vent.

I wanted to take a moment to announce a few upcoming projects.

  1. I will be fiercely attacking my goal of becoming a published.

I’ll be submitting work in the coming weeks in hopes of being featured in a local or national magazine.

2. I will begin work on my next self-publication.

The new book will be called The Inverted World.

Frisco New-32

It will be a black & white “Zine” (short for Magazine) and will contain images similar to the one above.

I want to create an inverted, upside down—distorted reality in photographs.

I think it will be fun.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading gang!
